I am considering parting ways with my Trek Supercaliber as it just doesn’t get much use and perhaps get a get a simpler Hardtail or something instead for fun and giggles.

It is a long time since I last sold a bike - what is the best place to sell - is Pinkbike still a thing or is it more hassle than it is worth?

Any advice would be most appreciated - and of course if interested let me know, but mindful not to make this a for sale ad.

Pinkbike and Facebook marketplace would be my choices. Both can be painful but thems the breaks.

I’ve got an X-caliber for sale if you want a simpler xc bike 😉

STW classifieds? Free or pay a fiver for boost, in my experience you deal with the nicest people!

I've sold some stuff on the STW classified recently and everyone I dealt with were great. As long as you price your stuff reasonably it will sell.

I’ve never had any success with STW classifieds tbh.

Ebay on an 80% off final sale fee is probably your best bet for the most money. Although loads of people will ask you to courier it.

Facebook classifieds sold my last bike frame (Transition Sentinel) - although it was a bit griefy.

I think maybe I sold one frame before through pinkbike too. But that probably gets you the lowest price.

Just listed my Cube on Pinkbike tonight. Always seem to shift stuff reasonably easily there. Ebay after that.

What size and model btw? I like my mate's Procaliber but the second hand ones always seem optimistically priced!

It is a M/L in Trek sizing - would be a medium I think in most other makes.

If you're near any local XC races, take it there, stick a for sale sign on it and see what interest you get.

I recently sold my SC on FB Market Place.

Initially looked at EB, but the fee worked out to be about 17% of potential price once uploaded with reserve etc.  I put on FB, it did take a couple of weeks and a few time wasters but got about the same as Ebay, cash buyer, collected etc.  Have sold two bikes before on Pink and that was easy.

Facebook marketplace +1

There are various groups for selling too as well, so if you join those first, just search for groups with obvious key words, e.g there's a southern bike shop, various buy and sell groups, probably some XC groups. Then when you create the advert it gives the option to post to groups you're a member of.

Works better than ebay as for the most part no one expects you to post stuff and I don't recall anyone ever turning up to kick tyres etc.

The downside is inane messages. But that's no worse than ebay really.

Is it advertised yet? I’m toying with getting a Procaliber or Supercaliber to do the London to Brighton this year.
