I’ve never taken a bike on a plane before, and I’ve got a trip to the US planned. I’d appreciate any info/advice re what’s best for carrying a large full suss MTB (30lbs ish)
It’ll be Virgin or BA if that makes any difference.
Many thanks.
I've used a soft bag for several years without issue but there is always a bit of a gamble. Always pack assuming that the baggage handlers will throw it around.
I've also used cardboard bike boxes sourced from my lbs. They worked fine too though I tended to have to flatten them to fit in a car and then rebuild / tape them together to catch the return flight.
Used an Evoc all over the world, solid reliable and easy to pack/move gives a lot more protection than people assume and light compared to anything hard which is really important. Also easy to pack the bike in quickly for moving about in hire cars/hotels
