There seem to be a few new decent-looking full-length winter "longshorts" or trousers around now. Ones that might actually be breathable, yet warm and good enough to replace my tried and trusted shorts-over-roubaix-longs approach. What are your favourite ones?

Specialized demo pants are what I've got, recomendation from my daughter. Also rate the shorts for comfort and fit.

Couple of riding mates have (and really like) the cheapest Fox ones. I’ll be keeping an eye out for a discounted pair over the summer.

I’ve been using some Madison Zenith 4-season ones for filthy muddy night rides but they’re not the greatest cut, quite stiff material and had to add more Velcro on the ankles to get them to close a bit better.

I picked up 2 pairs of fox defend Kevlar from skatehut of all places for £164 (cheapest I've seen elsewhere are £145). Light, very breathable, tough and look sexy as ****

The Demo pants mentioned above are also nice and probably the best bang for your buck (at RRP)

The Scott trail tuned pants seem to get very good reviews, lighter weight than the Demos.

Also been wearing my Keela Roadrunners regularly. I was using Montane Terra pants before but these are much better.

Fox Defend or indicator are great, Specialized Demo if you can get them, nuke proof are good too.

I bought a pair of endura mt500 spray 2 trousers at the beginning of autumn for around 100 quid.
Pros are that they are warm, great fit for riding and fit my ion knee pads underneath perfectly. They kept the winter mud off and I wore them on every winter ride and when they got filthy just stuck them on a rinse and spin In the machine.
Cons are they are definitely not waterproof. I would describe them as splash proof really. If you are out in soggy/muddy conditions they are great but anything like rain or really wet trails and they will leak through on the arse. Didn't bother me though and will keep using them. Would imagine though that they would get cold quickly if you got soaked on a long winter ride.

Having not tried any others I bought the ion trousers a few months ago.
Very happy with them, no big logos etc...

Bought a pair of fox kevlars for the winter months last year. Not exactly warm though with the massive vents going up them. Shower proof but not waterproof. Still well impressed with them though, just wear something light underneath them to stay off the cold, had a few small off's in them and they still look good as new. Baggy at knees if you need pads but don't look stupid if you dont. Tight at ankles so no mud/splatters go up

I have the Fox Ranger water pants and they're pretty good - they're not super-waterproof so they're not that sweaty and they're very comfy.
