You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
as title says which is the best for burn time? which for brightness? is there no good ones? any help appreciated.
I'd go for lithium batteries, plus they get hot so will turn your torch into a tidy hand warmer.
Why not rechargeable? It's totally daft and bad for the environment to use non rechargeables. 😕
thinking for 24hr racing when my rechargeables run out and i have to drop onto normal batteries.

just have more rechargeables 🙂
Vapextech do high capacity rechargables (2900mah AA's) for about the same price as duracells, the 30min charger eats batteries though IME, so its a trade off between wanting them charged imediately, and accepting that you'll have to order a few more every so often, the 'slower'/cheepr chargers have been fine.
I've had same prob with vapextec rechargeables. Expiring despite being charged slowly using the bl700 charger recommended on various forums. To be fair they replaced a pack when I complained but now more are failing. They've only gone through under 10 cycles so wonder if they have faulty batch.
Sometimes normal rechargables wont do, whatever the environment says. I've found that Lithium batteries work in much colder temperatures.
But, we are talking pretty cold. Not sure where the OP races?

A decent fast charger shouldn't, Shirley?
Southern UK racing so no crazy cold temps. I be got a fair few li-ion ones, but wad just wondering about some to keep spare for when one finds oneself in the poop with a dead torch. Does charging fast kill the batteries?

I don't think NiMH are as robust as NiCd, and one might expect cells at the limit of possible capacity to be more vulnerable to heavy charging...
