So, I've found myself watching the Brandon Semenuk's unReal Segment with cool music by Buffalo Springfield over and over again. The music seems to fit it perfectly.
What other segment soundtracks would you rate?
(Yes, it's a slow morning at the office!)
Chris
Always liked this!!
i like this, it was on a film called Vast that we saw as an intro film to "life cycles" when it was screened in keswick. ace song:
The unReal video is incredible and exactly what I came in to post. The behind-the-scenes vid is worth a watch too - beautifully coordinated production.
Post office Jam scene, I can't remember the movie.
I can't a decent clip of it on YT, but I always like the Steve Peat V Sam Hill Section in 'Seasons' with RATM.
OP- that's awesome!
I always liked the start of 'Real Sick' (freebie given away with a mag BITD)-
about 1 minute in, "Macho Nachos" by Mad Caddies 😀
Can't remember what film its from but the Whistler section with Steve Peat etc. Song is Two Shoes by The Cat Empire.
Nice! Keep them coming and we can build a playlist.
the sountracks to Roam and the collective stuff are still the best by far.
UnReal was my suggestion before I opened the thread! Good choice OP.
Love this one from the 'not taking it too seriously' category.
I do like films that show a bit of climbing though.
Red Travellinnnnnnnnnn Socks by Malcolm Middleton, the last scene in VAST with the wee red train and Rene Wildhaber and mates.
Oh and the Funeral by Band of Horses, and Martyn Bennett's Blackbird, and Little Piece by the Jezabels, all used on Danny Macaskill videos pretty much perfectly. The inspired vid still makes me want to rock out.
There was a segment on a vid, pretty sure with Cedric Gracia, and the backing track was a remix of Seven Nation Army by AMP Army. Can't remember the vid but that was a rad one at the time
True School by Coldcut during the Brazil section of Clay Porters Between The Tapes.
Just had such a glorious gleeful bounce to it.
I grew up on a diet of NWD films. So probably some punk or thrash metal 🙂
The lonely end of the rink, Darren Bearclaw's segment in Seasons, backflipping into the lake!

100X this 😀
I loved the music from Dirt. I have no idea who the band was, but it was fantastic early 90s indie.
If you go on Spotify there is a MTB film play list, its excellent (#billandted)
The UnReal soundtrack is brilliantly judged. Semenuk's segment was the first thing that sprang to mind, but Tom Van Steenbergen's bit works really well as well. Perfectly fits the trail riding vibe. It's also phenomenally good.
The awesome remix of 'Milk' from Chainspotting. I've tried to find it with no success 😥
The video that came with the first ever issue of MBR featured a track by Alan Hawkshaw "Beat Me Til I'm Blue". Lost the video to someone else not long after getting it myself so couldn't tell you what the footage was like and whether it fitted the tune but I spent ages trying to find out what that track was called and who it was by. Crap story and not quite what the OP was asking but definitely my favourite bit of music on any mountain bike film.
I'm actually quite proud of this thread now. My Apple Music playlist will be expanding later!
LoL I bought the collective soundtrack after seeing the film. Still played often while in the car!
Can you please pop up a link to the Spotify playlist mentioned previously.
This one?

From going through a few, it seems common consensus that Rise Against are perfect riding and training music, excellent!
oh, another one from Vast- "salt, peppa and spinderella" by Johnny Foreigner...
Another Chainspotting music fan here, in particular the Rob Warner section.
The soundtrack to Transition Klunking 2 is perfect.
The Semenuk one above is one I thought of as soon as I saw the thread title.
Im with DaveyBoyWonder, Two Shoes by Cat Empire. The segment was from The Collective Seasons film.
Ratboy's Madeira video with Band Of Skulls' Hootchie Cootchie. Gets me wanting to ride every time I hear it.
Another vote here for the Cat Empire and the Whistler segment from Seasons.
It always had a sort of bitter sweet sentiment for me - I guess even more so since we lost Stevie...
I've just been sat watching clips from the Collective films that I've not seen for years -
Also a favourite:
I love how much of a monster Nathan Rennie was on a bike!

I quite like Wintersleep - Orca for long climbs on the singlespeed.
I've always liked this costal crew section https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=w1hNr6nLtzI
Can't remember which film it's from (Maybe Kranked 8?) but the song is originally used in another section of the film, I think it works really well though.
I always like seeing what Joe Barnes and his crew put on their videos.
But this one is still the best combo of music and riding I've ever seen.
Can't find a clip, but last segment of the original Collective movie, Wade Simmons smoooooth as, riding to this
Chainspotting had an awesome soundtrack, even more so if you'd only really seen Dirt and Getta Grip before. The Tribute to Nothing track on the segment with the Animal DH team was ace.
Also enjoyed One Time 4 Ya Mind (Nas?) from Sprung 2.
I thought that last section of the collective was Berrecloth.
Been looking for the clip of Between the Tapes with Kovarik set to Interpol.
Phantogram usually works well with anything flowy.
I am rather fond of this, video, riding and music complement eachother nicely. Don't know if you can embed from vimeo?

Anything from either the Sprung series or Earthed
This is a playlist I put together, I've also mp3 files for the above if anyone is interested.

Can't remember which MTB film this is on soundtrack for, had never heard of the band Cherry Ghost either, but great track despite not being what i'd normally listen to.
RJD2 at the start of Roam with Derren Berrecloth
Most of Earthed 5, eg...
And the Brayton Eski Boy segment in particular - can't believe it's not on YouTube.
Ooh, The Danny McAskill Industrial Revolutions bit with The Wolves by Ben Howard on, love that.
Others have mentioned it.
The Follow Me segment with Stevie Smith and Gee Atherton in New Zealand with a backing track of The Killaflaws's 'Set me on fire'.
Awesome scenery, trails, riding and music and they both look to be having so much fun.
Edit.......this is other than everything in the Earthed series.
I thought that last section of the collective was Berrecloth.
Well, it was Simmons, Vanderham, Gulevich, Lunn and Berrecloth... so we're both right.
+1 for the RJD2/Bearclaw combo
Zinndeadly-choose one, off a roam segment
