I ride both road and offroad and i'm after a new mini-pump that will do both (inflate to circa 90-100psi and also not be an absolute pain for higher volume, lower pressure 2.4" mountain bike tyres).
I carry co2 with me, so hopefully that will deal with heavy-lifting, but I'm after 'the moon on a stick'... ie. something really very small with good output and pressure ability.
Top choice at the moment seems to be Birzman Mini Apogee... I have a bigger Birzman pump in my Enduro trail pack that i keep out on Madeira, but this is for here in the UK... thoughts/recommendations?
cheers
Don't know if you can still get them, but I've got a great little Crank Bros one for exactly this reason. Alloy body, and a little knob on the end that if you turn it one way does high volume, the other does high pressure.
I've no idea how it works, but it does! Was about 25 quid about 4 years ago!
Lezyne Alloy or Road Drive. I lost my Lezyne a couple of years ago and went through a bunch of alternatives, got pissed off (And STRANDED!) with them all so now back to Lezyne mini pump. Worth the slight hassle of the hose attaching for how bloody good and reliable they are.
I have the hp lezyne one & I find it great for the commuter but think I need the hv one for mtb
Found it, one of these. It's a lovely thing.

Topeak harpoon master blaster.
Has a high/low barrel and a proper grip for the pumping and non-pumping hand which means getting above 65psi is sooooo much easier than the smooth tube type ones.
i have a topeak road morph i use for both as i am also a bumbag user. in addition have the mountain morph, which i was happy with but it's too big for that pack. it's easier to push than the mountain morph at lower pressures but requires more strokes as you might imagine. no deal breaker at all though. i've inflated 2.8 and 3.0 tyres with it no problems. had it for about 6 or 7 years now i think? has a flip out base and handle. no fuss, just does the job.
