Alright chaps,

My mate at work is after a hybrid for cycling to work and pottering around, I've recommended the Boardman Comp, as it looks excellent value for money.

Is there anything else you can think of?

cheers

Butty

the boardman comp is a good commuter but i have one and do 8 miles each way and i needed to replace the hubs within six months of buying the bike, so a good bike but will require some upgrading over time

If he's a shortarse or a lankysod then this is great

Carbon fork, rack & guard mounts, Shimano 105 cranks & mechs, Shimano Hydros, Shimano M575hubs and looks pretty too.

Goes rather well, comes with splendid Conti Gator Skin Ultras too, better than the Boardman IMHO, having owned and ridden both for a fair amount of time (daily for 6 months each)
