Up in Avievegas for the Bikemore festival thingy. Did my usual loop up to BoG, Nethy Bridge, Ryvoan Pass and Lairig Ghru today, but fancy trying out some High Burnside trails tomorrow. Looked at Trailforks but all the reds appear to go up the hill!

Any recommendations for a solo bimbler who loves Lairig Ghru?

Condition depending, and it's dry ....other than Nazi Gold I don't think the backs at Burnside are that demanding, certainly Richards down is probably more a red... don't know why that's graded black.

T.H.R, Side pipe are amazing...it's certainly one of my favourite places to ride.

In the wet it's a a whole different ball game mind you.

Think it'll be dry on the day, but there was still some residual moistness out there today. I'll avoid Nazi Gold then 😉

As above, Richards Down is quite tame, the top is flat and rooty. The bottom quarter was alright though.
Trail to nowhere was my favourite followed by THR into christ almighty.

Have you looked up at Badaguish?

Ridden round Badaguish loads over the years, but never tried High Burnside.

In Aviemore now, are these a no go after the last 24hrs of rain?

Just had to move the van because our pitch was a bit flooded…

Or Lairig Grhu which was the other plan…

Of the two options, the LG will at least have some drier bits. I'd not bother traversing over from the lodge though, just go up the descent.

I've heard the Gap drains well.

I'd forgotten I'd even started this thread. Funnily enough, I'm planning another Aviemore trip in September (postponed from May due to various major illnesses amongst friends).

Has anything developed with High Burnside in the last year.

Seconded LG but going up the descent. The traverse from the Lodge would be horrible given how moist it has been

There's a new "Blue" trail. Not quite complete yet as work was suspended for the caper breeding season.

Cheers, we did LG a couple of times, bit damp but nice to get out on the bike.
