Voodoo bizango fits the bill with great reviews. Probably a few people on here have them.

£650, but I'm sure some LBS's would be amenable to haggling a little.

Pinnacle Ramin One? http://www.evanscycles.com/products/pinnacle/ramin-one-2015-mountain-bike-ec071312#features

So it's rigid but looks great!

Or the Ramin Two for an extra £100 with Forks: http://www.evanscycles.com/products/pinnacle/ramin-two-2015-mountain-bike-ec071313

I'll be looking to order a Ramin One soon I think.

If your budget is £600 try to borrow extra £98.24 and get Merida BigNine 900 - in the UK it comes with Manitou Marvel Comp forks, which are fantastic!

Another option worth considering. The fork is not up to that of the bizango but has good spec for the cash (plus topcashback, and often vouchers floating around)

@shanelechef, the 2014 Big Nine 300 had a coil fork, you need to get a 2015 one for air.

EDIT - you would probably be a 19" at 5'10" unless you've got crazy proportions.

5' 11" on an 18" Fireline (same geo as Parkwood) and it fits fine for my longer torso/arms and shorter legs with 50mm stem and 711 bars.

5' 10 on a 17" May be fine for you, depends on your proportions, whether you're regular size in both upper and lower body and top tube length of bike.

If going for a 29er then go for as short a stem as possible to keep the handling more responsive and flat /wide bars stop the front from feeling like it wants to lift off the ground on steep climbs.
What do you ride at the mo and what's the top tube length?

What about a Canyon Yellowstone?

£599 with RS XC30 Air forks, XT rear mech and Deore groupset. Acera Brakes - looks lpretty nice to me. I do like it in red too.

Bizango is a great bike and well worth upgrading, only the frame left on mine, but what a frame.
