any recommendations here, basic route upload, dont necessarily need a visual map.
How long are you riding, batteries/lack of can be an issue, I use the breadcrumb on an Edge 500 which most of the time is fine if I just want to follow a route, exploring is a little bit harder.
I can't really comment on other systems cos i've not really used them, but have found the Satmap pretty good for uk touring. The use of AA batteries is a pro, but the fact that its gets through a set of three in a days touring is con. their rechargeable cells should last longer but no experience.
Anyway, bike mount is good, screen is pretty clear (though can get washed out in bright direct sun) and the ability to plan routes on the unit is helpful. Plus comes with road mapping for the uk. not the smallest or lightest system but has been robust and reliable.
cycling for a 4-5 few hours each day in Europe, charge up available every night
