You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Me employer has recently launched this and it “seems” like a no brainier....
Price limit is £2k, has to be new I think.
A cursory check suggests the new stumpjumper but the spec is a bit iffy, but upgrades funded through tax savings?
In the event my lad wants to borrow it, probably be better running on 27.5 wheels.
Trek fuel also in the ballpark I think.
I don't know the answer but I think lots of the obvious choices might be out of stock.
Depends which scheme you're on. Don't forget you often have to pay 25% of the value at the end, so the savings can be fairly mediocre..
Are you restricted to certain shops?
Vitus Mythique for £1650 (iirc) and Escarpe CR for just under £2k look great.
We have to use cycle solutions but if you buy from them they knock 12% off the rrp and arrange a 5 year free loan at the end of the scheme so once it's yours it's worthless as far as hmrc are concerned.
Bird am9
Some places let you top up above the voucher....technically not supposed sell a bike for more but can mark the extra on a seoperate receipt as upgrades etc.
Specialized status? Mullet so it half ticks the smaller wheel size!
Ace cycles in Monmouth had one, looked like a real sorted build
In response to 5lab paying 25% of the value at the end , I guess this should read, to pay tax on the 25% residual value. Like my scheme rules
Hence for a High rate tax payer 40% tax rate
£2k over 2 years/ 24 months £83.33 a month costing the tax payer £50 a month
And then BIK 40% of 25% residual so £500 x 0.40 = £200
So cost you £1400 overall, saving £600
From cycesolutions FAQ:
You will have an opportunity when you complete your online Hire Agreement to agree to continue to use the equipment for a further 5-years beyond the completion of your salary sacrifice hire period. This extended usage agreement (which will be directly between you and Cycle Solutions) costs absolutely nothing. So you will benefit in full from the savings you make during the salary sacrifice period. If you take ownership of your bicycle and/or equipment at the end of the extended rental period, the fair market value of the bicycle will be negligible so there will be nothing extra to pay.
Alternatively, if you prefer you may also have the opportunity at the end of your salary sacrifice period to choose one of the following options:
- The bicycle and equipment can be returned to Cycle Solutions.
- You may be able to purchase the bicycle and equipment for a one-off fair market value payment.
It may not be your cup of tea but I got my Calibre Sentry on cycle scheme, I love it and will be keeping it for many years. Including my final payment it cost me about £1400 for a £2000 bike. 🙂 the Vitus offerings look great too!
If there's any available the Marin Hawk Hill got plenty of praise a while back.
I think the Hawk Hill has been renamed the Riftzone 27 (and there's a 29 as well obvs.)
Bossnut.
Keep extra aside for upgrading the SX mech to a GX when it gives up.
Go outdoors warranty is spot on.
Bike is super.
Vitus Escarpe looks like a clear winner if there's a model under £2k and if you can buy from CRC/Wiggle.
Availability might be the restriction here, oh, and having a son who is growing like a fast growing thing so technically, he would currently be on a medium, but probably a large this time next year, if not sooner.
And he’s is fickle, the bird aether7 looks great, and medium/long would probably allow for growing room, but he’s a bit “meh”. Git.
Specialized Status maybe, but the reviews seem a bit marmite, either it’s a great bombing around bike, but wouldn’t want to go for a “ride” on it...and it’s got a loose front end due to geo.
Calibre, Bossnut/Triple B/Triple B Pro/Sentry. All good bikes.
Igm, the link doesn’t seem to work to the flickr account?
