I know there are so many different reasons to pick different frames however I am just throwing the question out there for general opinion:-
What is the best full suspension frame for uk riding and why?
What is the best hard tail frame and why?

FS probably something like a stumpy/Fuel EX/5. Enough travel and vercitility for over 90% of UK trails.

26” wheels or 29” or 650b or 700c or 24” or 20” or whatever – yes, that wheel size is rad and you’ll probably get where you’re going.
Disc brakes, cantis, v-brakes, and road calipers all do a great job of stopping a bike when they’re working and adjusted.

Yes, you can put a rack on that. Get some p-clamps if there are no mounts.
Steel is a great material for making bike frames - so is aluminum, carbon fiber, and titanium.
You can have your saddle at whatever angle makes you happy.
Your handlebars can be lower than your saddle, even with your saddle, or higher than your saddle. Whichever way you like it is right.
Being shuttled up a downhill run does not make you a weak person, nor does choosing not to fly off of a 10 foot drop.

The more you ride your bike, the less your ass will hurt.
The following short answers are good answers, but not the only ones for the question asked – 29”, Brooks, lugged, disc brake, steel, Campagnolo, helmet, custom, Rohloff, NJS, carbon, 31.8, clipless, porteur.

Driving with your bikes on top of your car to get to a dirt trail isn’t ideal, but for most people it’s necessary.
If your bike has couplers, or if you have a spendy bike case, or if you pay a shop to pack your bike, or if you have a folding bike, shipping a bike is still a pain in the ass for everyone involved.
That dent in your frame is probably ok, but maybe it’s not. You should get it looked at.
Touch up paint always looks like shit. Often it looks worse than the scratch.
A pristine bike free of dirt, scratches, and wear marks makes me sort of sad.
A bike that’s been chained to the same tree for three years caked with rust and missing parts makes me sad too.
Bikes purchased at Halfords, Toys R Us, Tesco, or lidl are generally not the best bang for your buck.

Single speed bikes are rad. Bikes with derailleurs and cassettes are sexy. Belt drive internal gear bikes work great too.

(most?) bikes are fine. A bit like the whatever helmet you are wearing is better than none at all line.
Whatever bike you are riding is better than not riding one at all ..

Greg, matey your question is so so vague please just think about it. There are endless parts of the UK from full on downhill stuff to flat tow paths and also woody trails. To ask which FS or HT is best is just a pointless question and that's why you've had responses like above.
If you'd asked which was best for the type of trails you ride then you would have had much better replies and some good advice too. In all honesty there is no "best" as there isn't one bike that can do it all no matter what the magazines or press try make you buy. It's whatever floats your boat and which one rides best for you and the one you can afford too. The Yeti ASR5 is a nice bike but technology wise its being left behind now but it does ride well and Yeti's have that "following" I've owned the 575 and ARC and they're great bikes but there are others which are better - and others which are worse. Go test ride some and enjoy.

I think most UK riding involves nodding round trail centres at a snails pace. But being sure to unleash it on the downs and to send it off the 3 foot drops offs and roller doubles with your newly taught jumping skills.
For this the ideal bike is either a blue cotic bfe with a 2x10 setup and 140mm+ forks.
Or if you're a rougher rider who likes to plough through stuff, something with a bit of rear travel like an orange alpine 160 or lapiere spicy.
Coedy was full of stumpys today, so that must be the answer - I was blatting past them on a Mojo 🙂

Unless of course you are still wanting to ride little wheels or wanting to jump off very big things in which case something else. Or if you want something xc light in which case you should get a hard tail 29er but you don't because you asked the question you did so probably a sultan! Unless you are a dwarf, in which case smaller wheels may be appropriate.
