What area do you live in?

There's bound to be a specialised service place nearby that'b be better than a chain shop.

TF Tuned are faultless.  Check here to see if they can service your forks: https://www.tftuned.com/servicing/14-marzocchi-forks   as some models have parts they can't get.

Can't say I have any recommendations for the Nottingham area but maybe someone else does?

As above though TF are outstanding and Sprung in the FoD have also been OK for me.

I've used Sprung because I kind of pass there on a weekly basis but if I had to post I'd choose TF.

Personally I feel TFT aren't as good as they used to be. Loose knobs on returned forks, rather annoying having to tighten half way down a trail, almost lost the knob also forks not returned in original box sent in ( was sent in proper RS box with cardboard insert) returned in a plain brown box minimal packing.

I now send forks/shock to RSF

on online booking is a bit meh so if you want same day turnaround best to call him. I'm happy to wait for forks to be returned within the week as I'm either working or I can use other bike

Even the better service places play the “we can’t warranty the service as there is corrosion in the inner / a scratch on the stanchion / etc” card if at all possible.

I had a very mixed bag experience with TF last year. Because we were ‘passing’ on our way to Dorset for a holiday, I dropped them in in person. I then called them and was told that the service couldn’t progress as there was some corrosion in the upper tube air spring section. I can’t really remember how this conversation went, but I asked if they could basically just re-assemble them properly. I was told that this basically constituted a full service and I would have to pay full price. A compromise was reached where I would pay £90 (I think) for them to stop what they were doing and put them back together again. Somewhat pissed off, I agreed.

A few days later (wife and two kids in the car and getting a bit narky on a long journey) I dropped back in to pick them up. I was handed a tray with a fully disassembled fork in it. I made it clear this wasn’t what was agreed (nicely) and a top fella (wish I could remember his name) basically serviced the fork fully for me on the spot, and wouldn’t let it go until he got it working perfectly. It turned out that the ‘corrosion’ wasn’t anything of the sort and was smaller in area than a grain of rice. It was a small scratch caused by some poxy little washer breaking into three bits. I think the original mechanic just couldn’t be arsed with it, left it in bits and ****ed off, leaving the other guys to sort the issue.

The upshot was that I got a full service for £30, so some really good customer service came into it in the end, but there was some shenanigans beforehand.

I know a fair few people who have sent forks and droppers to various servicers and I would reckon about half have been given the “it is in bits, we’ve found a problem and can’t warranty the service, but reassembling constitutes a full service so we’ll have to charge you” line. I think it is a bit of cop-out.

I've had excellent service from TF Tuned. Sent my shock there recently and it was too damaged to be serviced. They reassembled and sent it back without any servicing charge in the original packaging i sent it in. I needed some advice on a new shock and had some really good advice on different options, costs, measurements, etc.
