I bought a Solarstorm X2 with upgraded charger and batteries from classifieds a few years back and have had no complaints at all.

Now a mate wants something for a similar price (£35-45) just to get him going.  3hr+ runtime, regular bridleways, some trails but no mentalism.  What would the consensus be of now?

Would this be much cop I wonder?  Thanks nightriders

The X8 is an amazing light for the cash.  I use 1 on the bars and 1 on the helmet, both the original ones with the chod mount, so I changed them to the Go-Pro style pronged mounts with tripod-thread fittings.  Helmet one attaches directly to the Bell S2R breakaway camera mount and corresponding 31.8mm bar mount.

They are really easy to attach and not having trailing cables from helmet to pack or bars to bike is brilliant.  Output-wise they are sufficient, and I haven't fully ran them down on a ride yet.

I’ve used one of those for commuting. It was fine, but one of the leds failed. Replaced it with a Lezyne 1500, only cost about £20 more and it’s a much better built light

I've got the version of that with a separate battery pack, as the integrated one wasn't available at the time.

It's bloody great for the cash, hugely impressed. I run that and a Lezyne 700 as a helmet light, good combo for night rides.

Always use MTB Batteries. Great reliable lights and you’ll struggle to get better than Smudge’s after sales service.

I bought a light that looks almost identical to the Evolva one linked a few weeks back in a sale tab cycle Republic for £50. Think it’s branded Ryder, but has some kind of lifetime warranty so I thought I’d take a chance on it. Probably won’t use it yup the clocks change now, but it’s exceptionally bright in the garage - compared to several different lights I have. I like the idea there isn’t a seperate battery pack and wires to route.

Will be running it on the bars and a Moon all in one 900 lumen light on the helmet that I also got in an end of season sale.

I've got the Evolva. Nice light throw for a bar light, enough on its own for Dales night-ish rides. Decent battery time. Bar clamp is OK, but needed a wrap of gorilla tape underneath to stop it slipping.
