I'm bikepacking the West Country Way in August. My mountain bike build won't be finished by then, so will be doing it on my gravel. What are the best 700c tyres in 40-42mm for the terrain?
Thanks

Since no-one else is biting...
I have some 40mm Nanos. Would buy them again. Did the Badger Divide on them, amongst other stuff. Don't have any experience of anything similar mind.

I also like Nanos but I've no idea what the West Country Way is like.

I second that. I'm using 40mm Nanos at the moment and I'd buy again - they're great all rounders.
Bike Radar have them as one of their best gravel tires for 2022:
https://www.bikeradar.com/advice/buyers-guides/best-gravel-tyres/ good review here. The article might give you some other ideas if you don't fancy the Nanos.

Another vote for Nanos - they are great all rounders.

No idea of the west country way, but another 40mm nano user here which I've used on both rocky and muddy rides (more like traditional cross country than gravel).

I also have 43mm gravel king SK which I highly rate and are great on rougher, but not wet/muddy stuff. They're my go to for general gravel.

Previously used schwalbe landcruisers too which seem pretty indestructible. Both 47mm on the MTB and 40mm on the old CX bike.

Nanos seem to do everything reasonably well, even when it’s a bit sloppy and they’re decent on the Rd as well.

I’ve got some going spare with decent life left in the tcs fast and light version but they’re tubelessed to a set of love mud orbit qr wheels. They’ll go on classifieds with the wheels as soon as I can get round to it.

I've used Nano's before, and have a set to put on when the trails get a bit wet again.

WTB Resilutes are good all rounders, not great in mud.

For a lighter tread/dry trails, the Hutchinson Toureg are pretty good.

I'm currently running Hutchinson Touregs, but unsure if they would be suitable for riding up over Dartmoor and Exmoor.

On 700c, Nanos.

Though I’m presently on 650B.

Not sure if you can get them anywhere... But Bruce Gordon Rock N Road 700X43 have served me very well. Not too draggy on road just a little buzz, but surprisingly capable in the rough.

Vittoria Terrano drys are what I've moved to after nanos. Have got me through quite a few scrapes and run relatively quickly. Nothing wrong with nanos either.
