So folks. What are the best 650b / 27.5 trail wheels out there at the moment without spending silly money?

Any advice gratefully received!

Also how have people found Light Bicycle wheels?

Oli

'Best'?

Hope Hoops running a Stans rim would be a good shout.

Anything else comparable will be more expensive and (possibly) give more trouble over its lifetime - may be lighter though to balance out.

My 650b Superstar Tactic rims on Switch hubs have been pretty excellent. £200 is a bargain.

some very impressive bargains on the superstar wheel clearance at the moment

recently got some 29r wheels on switch hubs for 100 quid and they are seriously impressive

this looks like a great deal

If on a budget I would get that set. Or you could get the Ultralite set for £200 and save 60g as well as having a free choice of colours.

Has anyone else tried the superstar tactics?

How are the hubs?

Switch Evo hubs are solid and quite quiet only 27 points of engagement compared to 40 of Hope Pro II so you will be disappointed if you like quick engagement. The new ultra ones have SKF bearings and the ultralite front hub is 60g lighter.

Just put Hope's Stans ArchEx on my Scale 650b. If they're good enough for the Cotic Soul 27.5 they're good enough for me. Great rear hub, had one for years on my full sus.

Decent deal on CRC.
