Can’t believe I’m writing a ‘Best tyre..’ post but what’s the best 24” tyre for pump tracks and/or pootling along behind my young kids on hard pack, tarmac and maybe a bit of dry dirt.
My big and slack geared 29er HT is too fast for pootling around with the kids and sucks on a pump tracks so i’m looking at an old single speed jump bike with either 24 or 26. I’m not really bothered which as the only 26 inch tyres I have lying around are DH Minions on an old Kona Howler. But since I bought a 24” tyre there seems to be a lack of Hookworms, Holy Rollers, DMR or Halo tyres. I’m looking for something like these or Kenda Block 8s.
Any advice
On my 24” wheel cruiser bmx I’m using Schwalbe Billy Bonkers. They roll really fast and are perfect on pump tracks.
I run vee tyre speedsters, pretty fat roll nice on the pump track, cheap
What surface pump track? Mines tarmac

If you can use 24 or 26 wheels I'd go 26 and have a much easier life.
Cheers for the advice. It’s going to be used on tarmac, hard pack dirt and hardcore pump tracks, with the odd pootle around places like the Haldon Hill Family trail behind 4 and 5 year olds, so no need for any actual real grip like a proper MTB tyre.
Maxxis DTH is always a popular cruiser choice, or tioga power blocks. DTH comes in 26 too, not sure about power blocks.
Halo twin rail is ok too if you want more tread but still quite fast rolling. 24 and 26
