Hi everyone. I have two bikes to buy for two boys who both have birthdays in August. I’ll be ok finding a 20inch wheel bike for my younger son but looking for opinions on the Orbea MX24 Trail vs the Saracen Mantra 2.4
The Orbea has a deore kit, the Saracen has Altus. The Orbea has Suntour 63mm travel air fork, the Saracen is an 80mm version. Can’t find too much info to compare geometry but they look roughly the same. I’m sure he’d love either. He rides quite hard for a 7 year old, jumping lots and riding the local pump track hard ... getting better than me already!
Any advice welcome but his next bike must be tough, have front air forks and be light enough not to knacker him out. I think these two offer the best bang for buck...has anyone compared in real life as they are all out of stock up here in sunny Scotland.
Personally I think you'd struggle to beat this on price when they get them back in stock.

I’m looking for a 24 inch bike to replace my daughter’s 20 inch Orbea. The options listed above just don’t look right to me - the proportions are all wrong and the head angles look too steep.
I’m currently looking at the Nukeproof Cub Scout, which is a bit more money, but looks much more like a proper adult trail bike. Commencal’s 24 inch bikes are similarly good, but quite a bit more expensive,

I picked up a commencal meta HT 24 for my lad 2nd hand for £150.
It's not quite as fancy as the new ones so 1x9 and coil fork but actually feels lighter than the 20" giant that he's passed down to his brother.
Coil fork is very lightly sprung so works well, SRAM db brakes are more than enough, very impressed so far.
My daughter had an MX24 Disc. She loved it. It was a smidge heavy but that was the only minor con.
Forks were good. Brakes and gears good but I did end up changing the cassette and chainring to give her more easy gears.
Whyte 303. No shonky fork, just an excellent frame, great component and floaty tyres.
Surprisingly light, too.
