Does shimano have a dedicated 1x for drop bars in development (non di2) or is it sram all the way?

I haven't seen a Shimano one, they haven't really innovated 1x for anything on mtbs so road with big rear cassette and a clutch would probably be way off. Cable pulls are all over the place so difficult to mix and match.

Wolftooth Tanpan lets you run Shimano road shifters with MTB mech. Works very well.

I have the 10s and 11s versions. The 11s is actually connecting 11s shifters to a 10s zee mech on a 10s cassette until that setup wears out. It's close enough to get proper shifting most of the way through the cassette, just needs too clicks to lock it into the largest sprocket. I did have it at a sweet spot where it was fine but it's very finnicky. Given how well the 10s one works when used 'properly' I expect no problems when I get round to using it with an 11s mech.

SRAM apex 1x11 will give you the most bang for your buck

Sram Rival works for me. With an 11-speed SLX cassette seems to shift fine.
Seems drop bar options are a bit all over the place tbh.
At least I know where I am with mtb brakes/shifters.

I'd be just as happy with a SRAM setup also. I'd see if you can try both out- if you like the SRAM setup better, happy days, if you prefer the shimano levers, know that a tanpan can make it work.

Or go with whatever comes on the bike you like. I got the shimano ones cheap, so those are what I have!

SRAM force 1x11 on my road bike.

Shimano have got the metrea 1x that they developed for "urban bikes". Not sure if there's a drop bar option.

I’m going force as got a good price for hydraulic shifters but some of the stuff I’ve been looking at they use di2 brifters an the di2 xtr rear mech.(3t Strada/exploro)

Strangely this combo is apparently more effective than cable in harsh cyclocross racing.

Not much in rival vs force group sets other than people go for the carbon force crank as it’s supposed to be stiffer.

Shift on apex, rival and force supposedly same is has it’s the same shift pull mech just gets lighter and more carboner as you go up the range.

1x drop as said by other posters does seem a bit pic and mix.

Was tempted as the shimano stuff does seem to turn up cheaper or more discounted than Sram.

Allegedly there is work being done on 1x road but it’s not out there just yet.
