A mate has been making me a slot in modular unit to go in my berlingo, tonight was its inaugural fitting.
Loosely based on the Amdro idea but with lots more options.

Flooring to be bonded to the base, units to be painted, cusions to be made, bed extension to be added, table to be cut and hinged (screw leg to be bought)

Updates to follow - what do you think so far?

Will fit most vans of this size (120cm wide, bed is 190mm long) - decathlon airbed fits a treat

Looks wicked. I've been fitting mine out recently for a three week Euro road trip, with three of us, bikes and camping kit.

Like the idea of a takeout-able unit. Storage might be an issue though.
Is there room for bikes? Mine has to take three...

Looks good , but the whole purpose of driving a pope mobile is the bikes goes in side away from the grime and prying eyes.

We have 2 of them now.

2 1.9d tractors.

We used to run a Citroen C15 in the mid '90s - but pre-digital and almost no pictures whatsoever 🙁

That had a fixed plywood bench down the rhs to sit / cook on and a centre section with removable bits to go with the bench for a sleeping platform. Then a vertical half height divider so that 2 bikes with front wheels out would fit down the lhs. Did all sorts in that when Mrs was racing properly - MTB tour of Britain, Worlds in Germany and a Grundig World Cup in Norway.

Trail rat, remove the drivers side bench and the bike goes in easily still and sleeps one

Get a pro to do it, or it'll end up looking like a boyracers ford orion 😉 rear barn door windows on the T4 cost £50

Curtains like camper vans have? Or them reflective heat sheild things. Think you can get massive ones that wrap around the outside, probably quite expensive though.

Edit - What he said ^^ 😀

You could make your own out of a couple of rolls of silvered insulation that you buy to fit behind radiators.(it's like bubble wrap). People use it to make pot cosys for micro camping, so there are lots of links to sources.
Then you'd need some press-through suckers. There must be some DIY instructibles for that type of thing.

Looks great, but do you fit in with the cushions? In the top pic your head is well into the roof...

I'll be interested in hearing how you get on with living with it.
I've always assumed that shifting everything around would be too much of a pain.
Tailgates help a lot in bad weather though.

What he said.

Plus I'm potentially another customer for Ian.

Regarding shifting them around they are quite light tbh. Also they ALL fit in the boot with the seats up. The base is cut in half and hinged, the table folds in half also.

Can't speak for others, but I was meaning shifting all your clothing/bikestuff/bedding around the van while camping.

why would i be shifting it - i would be wearing it or it would be in a box. If dirty then it would be in the space under the bed or in the front foot wells. When it is set up properly at the weekend (going actual camping) then i will take some more pictures to show it in use.

Looks good, although the model in the photos doesn't look like he's enjoying himself.

Much better than what I have in the back of the Vivaro

That's great! Do the rear travelling seats stay in with this set up?

May well be another customer!

Used it Last night - in seating and eating guise it's bob on. Spent about 3 hours sat round the table making stuff when it was pissing it down. Cooking was a breeze with the pull out drawer.

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

Sleeping was fine as long as you are not taller than me (188cm) on the decathlon 120cm wide airbed, getting changed was a bit tight with a 4 year old with no spacial awareness, it would be easier with some outside space to get changed (away from eyes). Need a few tweeks and some more "clever thinking" on what needs to be where in each box, maybe some segregation of the bigger box at the back.

In retrospect i would have done "bed time" before i pumped the airbed up or just used roll mats to save time/space.

Another trip soon so will keep you posted. Well worth the money though on solo or solo plus small kid weekends due to being able to kip anywhere and not have to pitch a tent
