I'm looking for an ex army/ surplus breathable waterproof -goretex or similar for mucky winter mtb riding; I've seen a few daft suggestions in another thread , but wondered if anyone had found the OP item or similar , and how they found it for riding
Cheers
I've got a British Army lightweight MTP waterproof jacket.
I bought it for on the downhill bike so that if it get's trashed it's not a problem. Very impressed with it so far.
I'd say that it's cut on the large side. I'm a regular size large in jackets so I got it in large too but it fits comfortably over the top of my hard plastic DH armour. If I wanted it for general riding i'd size down.
I think it's goretex but I don't think they're allowed to advertise as such, looks and feels like gore tex and it's very breathable...and i'm a sweaty thing too! Has got pit zips under each arm and no hood to flap about or get in the way. two velcro pockets on the arm and a rank tab on the front. That's it. Got mine for about £20 off ebay.
I'll but another once I've ripped this one to shreds.
