Ok, as above
Out on a ride today and had a tumble
Somehow?? bent my right hand XT shifter (aluminimum thumb one)
It will still shift but i have to move my hand into a funny position to do so!
Can Alu be bent back? or will it prob break?

it will probably bend or you will damage part of the mechanism trying to bend it. But if its no good then give it a go. If its a sharp bend it will probably break.
If it is bent away from the normal position can you stick something to it to make it thicker and thus easier to reach?
