I managed to bend the middle cog so took it for repair who replaced the whole part. on my way home the derailleur snapped clean, i wasnt putting stress through it just a gentle pedal whilst i worked through the gears, the item is a shimano deore xt, any one had this b4, i did ask the repairer about the new unit he fitted it it had different gearing ratios etc and he thought not

It could be me, but apart from you snapping the rear mech I've no idea what you are talking about.

he bent a cog, got a new cassette, his mech then snapped.
Possibly the mech set up was not right or hanger bent etc. Who repaired it?
