Heading up to machrihanish in Oct and wonder if it's worth riding bengulion trails nr campbeltown .
Quality trails if a little short. Quite steep in places as well with decent drop-offs in places. Lots of unmarked trails that aren't on trailforks if that's where you've been looking. Check out Strava heat map. You could easy spend a good morning or afternoon skelping down there. I'm a local but no longer resident. There's two access roads. One is up tomaig road which takes you round up above crosshill loch, then follow the forestry road up over the cattle grid and through the gate. The other is from down beside the graveyard. Coming from machrihanish you're better coming up tomaig to get an understanding of the layout imo. After the first few runs you'll have a better idea of where to go and how to get back to the top. Just go exploring. Obviously I don't know your skill level but I wouldn't be advising taking an xc bike and Def go easy the first time down each run. From what I hear the lads have built some serious trails. I've not done them all but the ones I did do were steep, close to the trees, rooty and enduro-esque in their nature.
Sounds like fun and worth an explore .cheers haggis👍
My Brother In Law lives in the town and last time we were visiting I went up with him. Some pretty steep stuff as has been said already. Felt a little bit like a small Golfie to me. I had my Pace HT with me at the time but would definitely take my Hightower if I was riding there again. (perhaps in September actually!)
A credit to the locals who have obviously been grafting up there a fair bit!
