I have a day off work and wife/daughter are away on Friday so, weather permitting, I fancy doing something that I'm normally not in a position to do.

Both Ben Ledi and the Ghlas/Lawers combo are 90 minutes from me but I've never been up either. Given I'll most likely be on my own, but am happy in the mountains wrt weather, nav, etc, which would people recomend for a grand day out? Which route would people recomend and why, particularly for Ghlas/Lawers, as there seems to be some debate over the best route down?

Much obliged.

Ghlas and Lawers are more interesting in terms of technical riding. Ledi is a very fast blast. Both are good but Lawers and Ghlas would always be my choice.

Oh, as for routes- up Ghlas and then Lawers then return by skirting the flank of Ghlas is traditional. A flowier descent that is almost entirely rideable and probably a good choice on your own. Down Lawers then Ghlas is the most technical option with some big rocky bits and steep sections. It's very good.
