I'm quite keen to ride Ben Lawers and I was just wondering what the consensus is for the best descent. Is it best to descend from the summit and then climb Beinn Ghlas and descend off that or is it better to go down the path that skirts round Beinn Ghlas?
I prefer the skirt around - its a longer and more continuous ride.
Go up over Ghlas though.
Avoid a weekend middle of day - it's packed at the moment according to my old neighbours who overlook it.
I prefer the skirt road tbh. There is enough steep tech off lawers to shake a stick at, and I'm not a massive fan of the switch backs on ghlas. I love the decent off lawers think its ace. I'd also suggest parking up at 5 o'clock so it's clear when decending.
The decent through the nature reserve is another good bit. It's a cracking short ride. Massive height for not that bad of a hike.
Enjoyment is guaranteed

Bloody Nora, Matt. How high up is their house?
Is there a route for what you describe? I'm getting confused looking at the map......
Park at the carpark. Ride up Beinn Ghlas. Descend to the col. Climb up to Ben Lawers summit. Descend to col. Take path that skirts Ghlas on North side to col on West side. Descend to carpark.
What Troutwrestler says.
Brilliant, cheers. Not sure why I was having so much difficulty but for some reason had it in my head that it was a circular route.....
