love this

Can a world cup racer beat me on a bike 6 sizes too small?

Nice video, thanks for sharing. Cathro always seems like a thoroughly decent bloke.

I hardly ever watch YouTube, I didn’t realise it could be so entertaining- that was a great vid, thanks!

Great video, thanks for sharing.

Really good production and Mike did a better job on the commentary than our new WC DH duo.

Glad they took a time on Cathro's current bike, but Mike should have put in a run on the Five as well.

he's ~10% faster on his current bike than on the old orange, it'd be interesting to see how much of that would be gotten back if he was on a more equivilent bike (say a patriot) of the same era, but in the right size, and a bit of practice.

I'm only just beating some of the Strava times I set on my Patriot from that era.

It'd be fascinating to see if I could go that fast on it now I'm used to longer bikes though.

There's a vid out there somewhere of Steve Peat racing his latest Santa Cruz DH bike down the Pleney track against the one he was on 15 years previously.

Edit: here:

Neil Donoghue has done a whole "what is faster" series comparing a range of different bikes including old vs new bikes. Quite interesting to see the range:

He rides an XXL but it’s still too small for him. Never a better case than Cathro for a Geometron.

That's that weird Santa Cruz thing- for years and years they were making little tiny bikes and signing gigantic racers. Seemed to work though
