Since I still haven't got my road bike I decided that a road ride on my Mtb would be better than nothing...
At first when ever I saw someone on a road bike it made me smile so much...in a nice mutual enjoyment kinda way.
By the end of it I had been overtaken by three roadies...it was soul destroying, effortless for them...
Tried to keep up but burnt out...
Anyone shared similar experiences?
"effortless for them"
Maybe,just maybe it's not the bike? 😉
Why do people get stressed by such things? Odd.
Ride for your own enjoyment and don't get hung up on people being faster than you.

Oh I know...thats what makes it soul destroying...the prospect of me being monumentally crap.
In my defense i was on a SS 29-12 (steel frame). One dude stopped and I kept in front for like 2 minutes, but then gently glided by...

Not stressed, just thinking that I don't wanna be...shit.
No.
Ride purely for my own pleasure, doesn't even cross my mind to worry about how fast or slow anyone else is riding 8)
(or what they're wearing or riding 😕 )
"genitally glided by" ?
genitally - s****
(starting this thread...oops)
"genitally - s****" whoops
Ride a moonlander on the road, you have a huge smile yet others cruise by, gladly I don't care
Don't worry, they did it on purpose and then once you were out of sight, stopped for a breather.
Also, they were secretly jealous of your bike. (probably)
Started riding with a Road club, all a bunch of good lads once they realise you can actually pedal.
Got to stop going to the front of the pack though as it's hard graft keeping the speed up.
Went out today got overtook 3 times. I was using a powertap so was riding with a defined power range. The riders who overtook me had been riding hard to catch me and were goosed (by their admission) when they came along side me. Was I bothered? Nope I'll be much faster whn the time comes, you don't always have to ride hard
It *is* much easier to go fast on a road bike than on a slicked-up MTB. And *massively* easier than a non-slicked one.
Though it should be pointed out that that's not mutually exclusive with you potentially being weak and slow 😉
I'm out for a 4 hour Zone 2 ride on new year's day. I imagine I'll get overtaken by quite a few people that day, especially when I need to be disciplined one the climbs.
"you [s]potentially[/s] being weak and slow"
FTFY.
Yeah, I kinda wanted to ride along with somebody, but i was too slow. a weak.
Opps, double post.
Anyone shared similar experiences?
Nope. And never will.
Bez I agree there.
However I am fat amd 'nippy' I have a KOM don't you know!! haha
