With all them holes in it I would imagine it would whistle when going fast. I wouldn't like to put my life into brake that had been drilled out

Presumably a lot of this stuff broke? That's a lot of stress raisers to be deliberately adding. The seatpost in particular gives me the heebie jeebies...
Im sure I read somewhere that adding holes to stuff, didn’t actually drop that much weight, and it was more an aesthetic thing.
That and everything broke
Cleaning after a must ride would be 'challenging'....

Alistair Laurie used to do this with british motorcycles. IIRC there was a Bonneville that weighed less than a bantam. I can't find a pic tho so this will have to do

My pal used to earn a living doing this drilling/lightening operation for the fluid power on Formula 1 race cars - the parts were no longer guaranteed by the original makers, but they were capable of lasting the duration of the race. Once the chequered flag flew and the part disintegrated on the way back to the pits, he was happy with a job well done.
I can hear those handlebars whistling in the wind!
On a similar vein, I worked with a guy who rode a works Aprilia in the GP250 series. He decided that the steel brake calliper bolts were too heavy and machined some replacements out of alloy. First race of the season, got away into the lead, braked hard on the first corner, bolts failed and crashed breaking his collarbone.
