So I used to frequent the forum many moons ago, 5 years worth of moons in fact.....

I escaped the UK to live in Croatia, got married, had two kids, started a business and a rather over ambitious renovation project and 5 years have flown by without a single ride on my once beloved bikes.

I've not kept up with any bike stuff at all so what's new?

What is all this change in wheel size?

Is my Dialled Alpine still cool?

Will it still pedal up hill?

Do I need a new bike to keep up with the kids?

everyone is a baldy legged roady around here nowadays, Dialled bikes don't make a Gravelduro bike anymore so they're no longer cool. unless of course it's a kobe or a morning glory 8)

Your wheels are too small and you've got too many gears!
Get out and ride the bloody thing though, stick it to the man...

So 26" wheels and 18 gears just simply will not work anymore?

26" and 27 gears is the new fad. We've had 4 different wheel size standards, bar ends are back in, along with a tight rake on the frame, as the long length frames of last year are so, well, last year.

People will laugh and point at you with that many gears. Get rid of 7 or 8 of them.

Ride your bike. Nothing else matters.

If you decide you're enjoying it, you might want to consider a new bike (obviously, as a true cycling enthusiast you should always be considering a new bike!) but don't let this put you off the important stuff - ride your bike!

Buying stuff you can’t afford then backing out of the deal is the new cool..... but you’re now also open to the vendor coming onto the forum to rip you a new one

Whatever you do, don't go to a trail centre in a VW Transporter.

If you decide that a Transporter is required, consider Ling. She will sort you out.

No one rides MTBs anymore. It's all gravel unicycles now.

52" wheels, one gear, ultra short stem.

Industry roadmap is taking us to the Penny Farthing.

You'll probably keep up with the kids for now, but start saving for that ebike, because very soon they won't even look back to see if you're still there!
