Another question (thanks for the replies about pad compound). Overhauling the families fleet, all of which were purchased as frames & built up (all Specialized) do the bearings/ linkages on the full suss bikes need stripping down & greasing/oiling? They all seem fine & operate with no squeaks & no play, am I better leaving alone? What time frame should they be replaced in?
If you wiggle the linkages can you feel any play anywhere?
If you remove the shock can you move the swinging arm thourgh it's full movement smoothly and without much force.
I'd leave it well alone then... I only every replace mine when they go wrong, though it's probably best not to leave it too long, as getting bearing out of 'some' frames is harder than others (especially if the bearing falls to bits).
