After a year of use the cheap threaded bar I bought to use with some rrp bearing press/extraction kits has worn out
Are there any good (and cheaper) alternatives to the rrp press or do I just need to stump up the cash?

Cheers

James

I found BSC after stumping up the cash for RRP's.. bit cheaper, though I can't confirm quality but they look as good as the rrp kit

Not pulled the trigger yet but have been eyeing up the cheap ones on eBay for occasional use. Anyone tried them?

Probably selling the exact same as the eBay stuff but based in Scotland and good customer service and instructions

I’ve got a uk bought bb30 press - think it was Burton Bikes I got that from. Also have a headset press that might be from bearing pro tools. Both work fine.

Recently picked up that cheap Chinese press tool kit above and so far have fitted a bmx bb and full set of bearings in my Bird Aether with it. Works lovely - spins really smoothly and the bearing drifts have fitted nicely.

I’d buy any of them again.

If I remember right, the RRP use thinner bar than other designs, so they can be used on frame pivot bearings, so be careful if you try to use a different press.

I went for the Bearing Pro Tools option as above.

https://www.bearingprotools.com/They did a specific kit for my bikes bearing sizes and have worked very well. More beating required than I thought to get the bearings out but more likely down to never having done it in 5 years than the kit itself.

I bought one of the cheap ones of Amazon. I used it the other day to fit some headset cups. I am impressed for the cost.
