5 of us are heading to Vancouver/Whistler in late summer and are looking to rent a pick-up. Something like a Ford F350. Had anybody done it before and got any tips of who to use?

Thanks

would your licence cover you for an F350? those things are huge. I'm sure you can rent them but I've not seen anyone like avis do it - might be a load easier to hire a van

I've used rent-a-wreck and they were great, they have an airport and city based sites

Should be OK. I don't think F350s are much bigger than say a Luton van and you can drive them on a regular licence. Though to be honest a F250 would probably be enough.

I'll have a look at rent-a-reck.

Thanks

Size isn't the issue it's weight. A Luton is 3.5ton gvw, the max you can drive on uk licence, unless you've got grandad rights and on O licence. The f350s are at 3.9ton and heavier.

Everyone drives around in those sort of trucks over there

They were our standard company car and there were no licence issue for anyone.

Its not a size thing, its a passenger thing (unless you're talking about HGV's)

F350 will be fine on a UK license.
Consider also an E350 (transit van)
The 15 passenger vans will seat well.. 15, but you can store the back 3 rows of seats and keep all your gear locked up in the van.

We routinely run airport transfer in our Express Van (same idea as E350 with 7 passengers and 7 bikes with 7 sets of luggage.

The E350 has a 1 tonne truck chassis also so aside from 4x4, just as much load hauling ability.

When not running more than 8 seats,(actually under 12 iirc) its no different to a car as far as licence requirements goes.

E350s available at most rental locations too.
