You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Okay - I'm sure it's brilliant, but is it THAT good? seems to be around £1500 plus food. From what I understand the logistics are quite complex but there doesn't seem to be much about it on their web-site
And how tough is it? say compared to Dyfi Enduro? In term of physical effort and technical level. Obviously it's multiple days rather than just 1
thanks!
Some great videos on YouTube about it.
If I had the time, money and fitness, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
Not done it, but would love to. I think it's one of those "if you have to ask, it's not for you" kind of events... I don't think it's intended to represent value for money as such, rather an opportunity to ride some of the most awesome Singletrack that BC has to offer for 7 days in a row with complete support all week.
Distance and technicality wise, it seems to be about the equivalent of doing a "Dyfi" a day for 7 days straight, but I'd expect a lot less fireroad and a lot more singletrack. They're all riding "marathon" (or BCXC, downcountry, or whatever you want to call it) bikes rather than full on XC bikes or Enduro bikes, so make of that what you will, but I'd expect everything to be more than rideable but with some level of technicality at least. If I could ever get fit enough, I'd love to do it!
Came very close to signing up a few years ago but when you factor in flights, food package and staying a few days/weeks either side just couldn't justify it. The trails look epic
Still on the bucket list but will make part of a bigger trip one day
Week long running events are similar prices.
Im born and raised in BC and have ridden a ton of the trails the BC Bike Race uses. Generally, they hit the epic stuff for a given area. But there are a dozen areas you want to hit in BC as it's bigger than Britain. Its like saying I rode the most awesome trails the UK had to offer, but never left the Peaks.
As far as cost--you could bring a bike, rent a van and hit all the trails in the BC Bike Race for about 1/2 the cost (less if you carpool with someone). TrailForks is your friend and living like a dirtbag is the key.
Haute Route road events (seven day fully supported amateur stage races in the Alps/Pyrenees) go for pretty much exactly the same money. That's hotel accommodation rather than camping but I almost think I'd prefer the camping!
I think we paid about that with food for the TransRockies 10 yrs ago .
Still the best event and family holiday we have ever had.
Canada has just so much to see,it was an amazing trip and it's still my answer when asked," If you could choose anywhere in the world to go to tomorrow, where would it be?" BC
trans provence was something like that. Worth every damn penny
