I've got an old 1 1/8 Cyclus Headset Press (like this).
The smallest ID thing it can press is 26.3mm.
Can I get an adapter to allow me to press in BB92 bottom cups? I can't see any technical reason why not. The bar is 15.9mm diameter (according to my cheap caliper) and it's long enough.
I bought this set: https://www.wiggle.co.uk/park-tool-press-fit-bb-bearing-tool-set-bbt-903/ and used my headset press with the cups.
Thanks @wwaswas. Am I not at risk of getting it crooked since the ID of those cups is bigger than my bar? And also £33 for a knocker-outer? I may have to see if I can borrow yours.
I have the same Cyclus press (as you sl2000), and the same park adaptors (as wwaswas), and it works fine.
The issue isn't getting it crooked though but when you push/press in the first cup, you need a spacer/adaptor to push against the BB shell on the other side. I've made my own big spacer to perform this task.
I use one of my headset fitting 'bits' from the cyclus set against the other side of the frame as per reggie's comment - you just need something with a large enough diameter to rest on the BB shell
I 3d printed some additonal adaptors my my headset press. If you have a printer, or know someone with one, it's pretty easy.
Thanks all. Not sure why I can't press both cups in at once like headsets but will find out soon I guess.
you can do both at once, but I don't do that on headsets either as it's easier to concentrate on getting one cup/bearing at a time in straight.:)
+1
Best practice is one at a time. Two at once can twist.
I use old shelves from an ikea cd rack.
My old 1 to 1 1/8th headset press uses stepped cups, so I just used a hole saw/ wood bit the same size as one of the steps to drill a hole to fit.
Works great for press fit bb’s and 1.5 headsets.
