My spicy has the bb90 bottom bracket, can I fit any replacement crank or does it need to be Shimano and is it a specific Shimano crank for that BB ?

You can fit a shimano crank to the bb90 already installed other wise change the press in bearings for Sram ones and run a Sram crank, it's an easy job, just like fitting a headset.
