The press fit bearings on my new carbon road bike have started to fail after 2.5 months, to say I'm unimpressed would be an understatement.
Why do we put up with these constant new standards that are so inferior to what went before? At least with HT II bottom brackets i could replace them myself, with press fit bearings it means booking a slot at my LBS & paying for labour as well as the parts.
What bearings should i be looking at & is there any way of protecting them?
This is on a new road bike so I'm REALLY glad my MTB's have HTII systems.
A lot of people seeming to use these when confronted by the shit pie that is BB30:

Hmm, I'm on my phone so cant see all the fine detail, but how does that Praxis system work? Is it a one-time replacement that you can swap the bearings out of or do you replace the whole unit?
If it were an alloy frame I'd have a go at doing it myself - not a chance with a lightweight carbon frame!
Enduro ones seem very good but not cheap , they are fairly simple to change at home.
Could you get away with taking off the rubber seals and cleaning the bearing while still in the frame
The ones on my road bike failed after about 3 months took it back to the bike shop and they warrantied them and they have been going strong since.
The KCNC sets are pretty god as well.
I've already stripped the cranks off & pulled out the bearing covers, flooded them with both WD40 & 3-In-One oil before allowing them to dry & repacking them with lithium grease. Its made the non-drive side bearing run better but its still notchy.
Unfortunately for me the frame was a mail order job from Dolan, so not so easy to take back.
