Hi All,

I have thought this through and I think it will work but I need to run it past you guys first!

I have a Spark RC with a PF DUB BB and a GX DUB crankset. I have just dug out an XO crankset from a previous bike and have discovered I can put a single chain ring on it so want to fit it.

So, if I buy a PF BB30 BB and replace the DUB one will it all go together and play nicely?

I think it will but your collective wisdom would be appreciated.

Yes, no reason that wouldn't work fine. Choose your pf30 BB wisely. I'd recommend wheels manufacturing.

Cheers Davros, that's what I thought but it is good to hear from someone else before I start purchasing, dismantling and reassembling!

Not a bad job if you already have the right tools, but might be annoying and expensive if not. Though a home made press from a threaded rod is easy enough and does the job. Other thing to consider is whether using the 2x crank will negatively affect chainline.

I fitted the PF DUB BB with a Hope press that I had and it all went in nicely and has been fine since fitting. I am assuming that the chain ring fits in exactly the same way as the 2X spider that the chainline will be fine but I might do some measuring to see if I can confirm that.

Do I wait until the current PF DUB BB calls it a day before I change it though?

Ah I get you, it's one with a removable spider. You should be able to get the same chainline with your current chainring. I'd probably wait til it needs replacing, especially if it's getting used in the current uk conditions!
