Hi all,
Got a 2007 ish hotrock with a rough BB.
Stripped it down to find its the old sq taper type with open axle and bearings in carriers.
Any ideas if you can buy the bearings/carriers or is it a case of replace with a sealed sq Taper BB ?
Be a shame as it could be a cheap easy fix if you can get the parts.
LBS staff ? - any ideas ?

Thank you.

How cheap do you want? You can get a Shimano square taper BB for under £8.

Get yourself a cheap cartridge bb. Fit and forget. Lob when knackered. I like fixable stuff as a general rule but a cup and cone old style bb is just a retrograde step too far!

Loose ones are heavy too. Defo get a sealed shimano square taper bb. They last forever too.

If you do want the bearings pop into any lbs or even halfords
If you can't get the bearings already in there cage just get loose 1/4 bearings and use your cage

But personal I'd just measure the axle and pop in a sealed bb
