You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hello everyone - an occasional visit to the forum, this time to ask for everyone's help please but particularly anyone in the Bath area..
Bath and North East Somerset Council are consulting on a range of options for the present Entry Hill Golf Course site (tucked away on-top of a former rubbish dump) including turning it into an urban mountain bike park - yay!
Nothing will happen without your support though - Perhaps unsurprisingly there are a small number of golfers who are against the idea, and concerned local residents - we need as many people and organisations / clubs to respond positively to the bike park idea please. Please could everyone interested respond to the survey below as soon as possible but at the very latest before 3rd Feb. - stressing that anyone can respond including people from outside of the area who might come to Bath to ride there:

There are also two community consultation events happening this week:
Odd Down Sports Ground Friday 10 January 3pm-6pm and Saturday 11 Jan 10am-1pm
There is huge potential to link the proposed Bike Park with the Odd Down Sports Ground and the Closed Road Cycling Circuit and BMX track there. I’ll certainly be pushing for some kind of direct link. I’m also liaising with the Council to get smaller scale pump tracks built across Bath and North East Somerset which, like in Bristol, could link really nicely with a bigger facility.
I'll try to keep an eye on this thread and answer any questions and hopefully keep it updated on progress,
Cheers!
Andy
supported, thanks!
Done, would travel to Bath if this was decent.
Rich from Wind Hill posted the survey link earlier in the week and I added my voice. Could be a great spot.

Supported. I'd venture over sometimes and share a few Welsh pounds with you English, if it's done well!
Done.
Also, just had an email from my club to say that Avon and Somerset are doing free Bike Marking at Green Park Station on Friday 31st Jan from 10AM to 3PM
Done the survey too. Strongly supported mountain bike trials. I'm a BANES resident so that may carry a bit more weight.
Might be worth you contacting the guys at Leeds Bike Park for tips on how to progress a plan like this. Similar starting point (a mothballed council golf course), and now a really successful urban bike park.
done and shared around as well. might be worth sharing with GMBN guys and see if they will mention it on a show
I filled it in a couple of weeks ago! I was born and raised in Bath and this would have been SO good if it was around when I was growing up. I'm just across the bridge in Wales now but I would love to have a good place like that closeish where I could go practice my jump skills.
might be worth sharing with GMBN guys
Ahem. I’ve already written a story about it, shared with the followers of Europe’s biggest MTB website, and completed the survey... 😉

I think they probably meant the fact that those guys are based in Bath so could also get the word out locally!
Done.
This is an MTB website...? 😉
Relatively local and survey completed.
Sounds like what I did to create Southampton Bike Park. Good luck, the admin and official stuff is almost as back breaking as the digging.
Nice feeling when it is still growing and being used and maintained right years later.
Again. Good luck
Agreed and signed.
I don't understand why locals would be against giving there local youngsters somewhere to occupier themselves! Crazy "I don't want change locals" I'd imagine.
Hope this goes ahead. Given there is a road and a bmx track (almost) across the road, the cities association with the cycling media, and the sustrans 2 tunnels/ b2b path, you would hope banes understand this kind of thing and support will outweigh the negativity. Just need to get that cable car thing ramped up again and we’re laughing.

What's the bet that they also moan about kids doing wheelies down the local high street because they have nothing better to do.
Cycling really _is_ the new golf!
Good to see, i did complete this survey at the beginning, so nice to see it made it through, sure the guys at the heart of this one will do a good job, can't see it being like the Wind hill style bike park, but should have a lot in a small area i'd guess.
Guessing it’s going to be more like Leeds Urban Bike Park than windhill. Like the sound of the tarmac pump track as well as dirt jumps / dual slalom / main trails. Hope they have trails / a circuit like the blue and reds at Leeds that have big bermed corners / rollers / large tables / flow sections. Visited it once when away with work and enjoyed it even on a less than amazing hire hardtail.
Great news, hope it all goes well.
Right on my doorstep, looking forward to this.
Brilliant news. As a Bristol resident who works in Bath and has 2 keen biker kids I’m looking forward to this.
