What bash guard for general riding not DH?
104 BCD, cover 36T, inexpensive but decent, and definitely not that pink one on CRC.. 😯

I had a FSA one a while back that was decent and about £15 from winstanleys. Then had some deore double cranks that came with one. recently bought a Hope one, bit pricey at £30ish but it looks fantastic and weights nowt. Well pleased with it.

There's usually some blackspire ones on CRC for about £20 in various colours though.

+1 for the FSA Polycarbonate ones. Wiggle [s]do[/s] (edit DID) them

Cheap and I've never broken it.

A very expensive E13 one lasted me 3 months before it cracked!

BBG here too. The drilled out oval is pretty and darn light too.... Oh and cheap.

Also using a turned down (I.e toothless) e13 guidering on my 120 bcd raceface cranks.

I had the lightweight BBG, it was nice but I couldn't call it a bashring, it folded up on the first decent bash. But a good chainguide.

Gamut's plastic ones are light and seem tough, though I've seen a couple of broken ones.

hmm, just looked at BoardinBob's ali one, and thought much the same. Lovely looking and would prbably save my chainring but not much use if it's then bent outta shape on it's first 'bash'
(especially if it bends into the chainring)

Anyone fitted a SLX BR to an SRAM triple chainset?
(Much hacking/adjusting with a file, needed doing?)

Oh, just for clarity, I had the superlight one, it's made of holes- BBG have an assortment of models some of which look much sturdier, I intentionally bought the weakest one so I wouldn't complain that it bent.

I have used a Race Face Alu in the past and for general trail riding duties it worked great. It was almost like a chainring just with out the teeth. So quite light and not very chunky.

Seemed to cope fine with numerous unsuccessful attempts by me to jump over logs or up wooden steps. Had a few scratches and scars but was not bent or deformed.

I think the RRP was something silly for a round bit of metal but if you can find on sale then I'd highly recommend it.

Got one of those in the garage, it's too heavy to go on my bikes tbh but I love it. Sort of nonsense you might expect from Charge or someone not one of the biggest bike companies in the world.

Go retro with a Girvin Rock Ring!

Salsa used to do a nice one called the tooth fairy, but they're now branded as "Dimension" on ebay.

The SLX will only fit an SLX double and bash crank.

I know after cutting one down to get it to fit an XT crank only to find that it sits too close to the chain and doesn't work.

You'd be lucky to bend the plastic truvativ one with a sledgehammer and the aluminium one is tough as nails too

I think you'll find that is the fault of the crankset not the bashring - I have a similar issue with my lightweight raceface ring on m770 crankset - the XT m770 outer ring appears to be extra thick?
