Damn, like looking for Hens Teeth!

Point me in the direction of some fairly good, fairly cheap long sleeved base layers with thumb holes if you please kind people!

An ideas appreciated, thanks

The Alpkit ones do, just looked, seems only the Laika of the current line up. I've a Rab long sleeved base layer that does but can't remember the model. Looking at Cotswold's site there's the Icebreaker 260 zone with thumb loops.

Edit: my wife bought the women's version of the Laika and the material feels very similar to the Rab I've got so I so much so I'd suggest they are from the same factory.

To any manufacturers reading: I hate thumb loops. I never use them and it annoys me that half my clothes have extra holes in the sleeves.

Sorry OP - I know that was super unhelpful.

Wore it last night running in -2 freezing fog and on various cold hikes recently - really good!

The cipilene base layer from Patagonia has thumb loops ( not a hole cut in the sleeve) but they ain’t cheap.

Montane primino, but it has a hood, which you may not want.

I have three with thump loops
- icebreaker, think it's 260 weight
- rab, again a heavier weight one
- marmot thermo half zip

it tends to be in heavier weight base layers for me, and I often use them like a midlayer over a mesh or very thin base layer

I was given one of these for Christmas which has a nice fleecy feel, though not just a base layer as good for running on it's own.  Unlikely to be nearly as nice as the Patagonia Capilene 'gold standard' of base layers in the long run but at £7.99 it fits your criteria.

I have a synthetic Kathmandu one which has thumb loops - cheap, dead warm and pretty hard wearing (it's gotta be 8 years old now).

@Whitestone, it was your comment on the Warm Gloves thread that started me looking for something!

@Superficial, while I get your point, I'm after them for a specific reason. Other than that (riding in cold weather, no gap around my wrist) no, I don't like them either on 'everyday' stuff.

Everyone else, thanks for the pointers. I shall have a look through those suggestions, see if anything takes my fancy!

You can get powerstretch wrist gaiters, they're great. I have a pair and work very well

Decathlon, I've got this one which fits well, is warm and would b perfect were it not for the fact that it has thumb loops. That suggests it's suit you well.

This one too.

@chaos how did the decathlon size up?

Looks good value & they have it ‘offensively bright yellow’!

@sockpuppet, I've got one of those and I'd say they're quite fitted with long arms, fitted for a typical runners physique.
I'm 6'5" and 78kg (think lanky streak of ...) and wear a large, a medium would fit but would be on the snug side. The arms are long and fit me really well, but anyone with anything that resembles proper "guns" might struggle.

@sockpuppet.  I've got the medium which fits me quite closely as a fairly slim 5'9" / 65kg build, the shoulders are a little narrower than ideal but the stretchiness doesn't make that uncomfortable.  As lunge says it's got long arms and is also reasonably long in the body so shouldn't expose your back if riding not running.

The little zip guard isn't great though so think twice if you're a beardy as it could snag annoyingly.

I bought a Zone 3 running top before Xmas. That has thumb loops and would be absolutely fine as a baselayer (in fact I almost wore it as that today). Maybe size down so it's a snug fit (it's quite long).

Thanks guys, a medium sound like it’ll be the thing for me.

I quite like the own-brand OEX from Go Outdoors I have - long arms with thumb loop, inexpensive, warm:

Even thin ones feel 'orrible to me when riding. Good for walking running though, probably

Make your own. By some elastic, cut to fit, sew it in.

Max 5 minute job.

I use Bamboo clothing (as vanillas link above) for most things I wear. Running, snowboarding, work, walking.

It’s fab stuff. Cheap, comfy, sustainable. With thumb loops in some items too.
