So I Share an office building with Barclays...
They've complained that taking a folding bike in through the main entrance sets the wrong image....

So now I have to use the servants entrance around the back of the building..

I wonder what sets the right image... will it put off the Assad family visiting .... or Arms manufacturers...

Is it in that there London?

If so hire a Boris bike and take that in through the front door, then see what happens.....

RonJ +1.... Better still, leave it leaning up against the reception desk. They'll look after it!

I go to an office of an organisation spending £20bn. I take my brompton in through the main entrance and they hold the gate open for me and ask how my journey was. Tell them to shove it up their bonus.

Yup it's London.....
Looks like I'm classed as a Pleb and will have to use the loading bay....

Probably there's not enough space in the front of house lifts for a folder and all the fat cats in their wide pinstripe suits.....

Just another reason in a long list of why I wouldn't touch Barclays with yours.

I doubt your company's sublease has anything in it about "right image"

It probably has something about "quiet enjoyment" though.

tell them to do one.

Perfectly normal for an office to ask cyclists to use the loading bay entrance for their bikes. I wouldn't want you bringing your bike through my front door either.

fold bike, put in bike bag, carry in via front door 😀
but its a bike sir, what is the problem..

a mate of mine commuted part of his journey on a folder then took the bus for the rest, was refused access onto bus once due to no bikes (even when folded and stored with prams / luggage etc..

saw same miserable rules is rules driver a while later with bike in bag and was then no issue..

Rules is Rules... 🙄

Service entrances are usually a bit rubbish with hard to negotiate doors into the office space inside. Perhaps you could accidentally knock lumps out of the door frames or hurt yourself in some way. Then kick up a fuss at how they haven't properly risk assesed what they asked you to do.

Or just do the Boris thing

Barclays? If they're making you go round the back, can you get access to the basement then? Maybe take a 'year zero' approach to financial institutions. As advocated by...
