I know that this has been done to death previously, but I'm struggling to find a flar, or low riser, carbon bar that will take bar ends. A previous thread on here mentions using KCNC or Specialised expander plugs to support bar ends on carbon bars. Since both of these options are similarly priced to Hope Grip Doctors I was wondering whether they'd be useable in this context; the Hopes have a rubber expander rather than metal and the Hope website doesn't mention anything about supporting bar ends.

Equally any suggestions for a bar end friendly carbon flat/low riser bar would be gratefully accepted (Thomson, Superstar have already said no); I wouldn't want anything over 700mm in width.

I've used at least three carbon bars with bar ends (Cane Creek Ergos) and never had any problems. Just don't buy those that have a grub screw tightening against the bar - you want something that tightens up round the circumference (like a normal lock-on grip) and don't overdo it.

It appears that they only do these in 25.4 size although they do state that their OS bars can be used with bar ends in conjunction with the KCNC support plugs.

Shame, they definitely did a 31.8 one, I've got one!

Excellent bars, but understand using plugs isn't as appealing.

I'm with Scotroutes here - I ummed and arred and then did it and haven't died (yet). Easton Haven bars with old school X-lite barends (had em for ever) on a rigid singlespeed. Don't overtighten them and all should be fine... Its not big & its not cool but I care not! 8)
