I'm looking at replacing my Banshee Rampant that I'm using as a do it all bike with a new 160mm bike. I'm more descent orientated and like to ride bike parks and DH but most of my riding will be around the Surrey Hills. I'm looking for a frame that is playful and wants to pop off things, I'm not interested in all out speed. I've got the list down to the Banshee Rune V3 or a Trek Remedy. Geometry wise the only difference is that the Rune has a degree slacker HA with a 20mm longer wheel base. I've ridden both small and medium size SX Trails and Pitches with 160mm forks which are very similar to the geometry of these bikes and have always preferred the smaller size. I'm not sure if that was due to reach or wheelbase length though. My concern with the Rune is it might be too slack/long and there aren't really any reviews of them. Trek Remedy has lots of reviews saying that it is a playful bike.
I started looking at suspension and the Rune is more progressive overall at 29% and inline with my Rampant compared to the Remedy which is about 25% I think. I'm also coil curious again but it looks like both bikes should work well with a coil.

On the basis that I'm not going to be able to test ride them can anyone offer any input on how each one might ride and which is best suited to my riding style?
Thanks for your time
A mate has the V2 Rune and he loves it. His previous bike was a V2 Rune. I think both a mediums, but although the V3 is longer it doesn't seem to have impacted his riding - he rides better on the V3. Faster up and down, and it's not bad in the air.
A different mate has a Capra Al and his previous bike was a Remedy. He wants a Remedy again, as he says the Capra is too much for him.
If I was looking at those choices, I'd go for the Rune (or even the Titan - both look way better than the Remedy) in Raw, but can't help feeling the frame-only is a bit pricy, and I think it's only a 3 year warranty. I loved my V2 Spitfire until it failed, and though I've not heard of the V3's having any issues I'd still have that niggling doubt.
Availability - he waited 6-7 months for the V3 as they only make them in small batches.
Coils - I think there's some shocks that won't fit the Rune and Titan due to the lower shock link cage thing
If you have never ridden a Banshee and buying blind- TRUST in my word that you’ll not regret it!
New V3 Banshee frames are both heavy and expensive.
After selling my V2 Prime I just cant justify paying that much for an alu frame thats not far off a pound heavier that previous.
My original V2 build in 'aggressive trail' mode was 34.5 lbs and was too much for trail days really.
Yh but it certainly not going to break like previous incarnations.
My Banshee although not a Rune weighs naff all

#runetheworld.
Yes it's heavy, but it climbs better than my V2 Spitfire.
The Spitfire was a tad more nimble, but I'd rather send the Rune into oblivion.
Thw weight doesn't bother me. A modern 160mm build will be lighter than my Rampant... Plus it the Rune is slightly lighter than the Remedy frame. It looks like Banshee are now doing a 4 year warranty with the V3.
My heart says Rune but my head says Remedy as it's got a lifetime warranty on the frame, the local shop sells them and it has been around longer. The bushing issues and cracking frames of V1 and V2 also slightly marred the brand for me.
I'd be cautious of the suspension figures you quoted- my Remedy's an older model but if you look at linkage, you get a completely false idea of how it rides, because it only tells you about the suspension geometry, and can't take into account the clever reactiv shock. Linkage is a great tool for the one thing it does, but that's all it does. It can't substitute for a test ride when it comes to really comparing bikes.
(it's also got some errors in; no idea if these 2 bikes are correct, but mostly it's claimed figures from manufacturers which aren't 100% reliable)
Banshee all the way! The new frames look so nice, current planning a new Prime with 29+ front.... Perfect for the steep tech!
Warranty is now 4 years.
At my shop we have all 2020 X2 equipped Banshee frames at £1750, mix of Titans and Runes. Only a large orange showing in stock but all sizes available at the same price 🤟

“Weight:
3.9KG (8.5 lbs) Medium black ano frame including Float X2 shock, dropouts w/ axle, and seat post clamp. ”
This does not seem heavy for a 160mm alloy frame.
I want a Prime but I don’t have enough time to ride one of them and my hardtail and my Levo!
Kind of going the other way. Selling on my 2020 Trek Slash 8 frame and fork and hopefully swapping to a Banshee Phantom.
Really like the look of Banshee and actually bumped into a guy last week who was riding a V3 Titan with an MRP coil. He really rated it and showed me a fairly massive gap jump on it!
Bloody hell, now I want a Titan. Damn you Pigyn!
Banshee's are on my not so short list. A quick question about the lower shock link cage. Is it a bit of a mud trap? I've never seen the v3's up close to check.
I have a titan . It makes me feel all wobbly when I look at it.

No, it's open at the bottom below the BB.
