On route to Aviemore to do the Cairngorm Loop On Friday fancy a little spin is the route worth it and any cheeky campsites nearby to park a van and obviously a ale house for a pint ,anyone want to join me?

It's awrite, fairly average. Unbelievable wildlife though, you'll see more there in 2 hours than you'll see in the lakes in a year.

Go to Comrie croft instead, ride the loop up to reservoir and back, then ride Comrie trails.

S'OK. Head to Dunkeld via Birnam Woods and loop Loch Ordie then finish down Glen Garr.

Oh, and I've another bivvy loop for you. My research included riding it this weekend 🙂

Are you staying in/around Aviemore one evening?

Glen Garr? There's about a mile of nice riding to it.

Nice loop if you adjust your expectations, there's basically nothing to it but it's a nice part of the world - sounds abar right for what you're saying, loosen the legs before the serious riding up in the Cairngorms.

Not familiar with bevvying in Dunkeld, but there must be a few options - Pitlochry up the road has plenty.

Park up in bridge of Allan, it's Scotland, ye can park anywhere, ride dumyat/mine woods/kippenrait.

Beer in the brewery After, then fish and chips from one if best chippies around.

Colin could possibly get to Aviemore on Friday afternoon planning on taking it easy due to the CL loop staying in Aviemore Saturday night so a ride without kit is a possibility. Meeting up with 3 others to do the loop

You've been doing it wrong - add in some bits around Birnam hill to make it more interesting.

Rich - the bankfoot inn is decent for a pint and there are a couple of van parking spots on the side of birnam hill. If I have time tomorrow, I'll draw you the best route - I live in Bankfoot, but will be in Aviemore over the weekend too.

PM me or email me stw.geoffj@me.com

Edit - if you want something a bit gnarlier, there's plenty of more enduro stuff around Dunkeld.

Cool. If nothing else, I'm happy to meet over a couple of beers and talk hills, routes, bikes and shit 🙂

Oh - here's the loop I was thinking of for you. There's a bivvy en route, though it's possible not best placed.

S'alright. Nice afternoon out. If I was only up that way every once in a while rather than local and riding the area all the time I'd probably look for something more exciting.

Carn Liath from Blair Atholl would be my choice of not-a-massive-mountain round there and on the A9.
