Thinking of a first trip to Scolty tomorrow and been having a look on Traulforks. A few routes but most seem pre-Arwen and contain wrecked trails. Looking for a 2-3 loop of red trails although don’t mix a black as long as there’s no gaps or big drops. Completely unsure where to start.
I just checked Trailforks and it seems to be have been updated with post-Arwen trails.
Blackhall side: Boneyard, Crack Cleaner & Crack to Slack trails are all fine - no gaps or drops, some slabs though.
Scolty Hill: the trails from the Tower are all fine I think, I haven't ridden these for a while though.
The stuff down from Banchory tower marked on TF is all good. General Burnett's Backside is probably my favourite. I haven't ridden it or Goosefest for a little while though, so not sure if bracken might be pretty thick in the top sections of both.
The stuff showing as open on TF from Hill of Goauch are longer (and rougher). Roots Manova and Boneyard (into Black Sheep) are the easiest, both worth riding. Then drop into Corona Time. Winch back up and repeat.
I did an explore around the stuff to the west last week, just to see if it had opened up at all. It's mostly all overgrown though, even the stuff not blocked by trees, as it was shut for so long.
Cheers guys.
Did Roots Manoova then back up for Boneyard, although I did take a wrong trail and did the start of Crack Cleaner by accident. Forgot about Corona Time. Linking trail from Goauch over to the tower was really nice until you came out into the open and the bracken was really thick. View from the tower was amazing but not so fond of the trail down. Overgrown and lines everywhere meant it was difficult to pick a particular track. Ended up on Gun Barrel, which was again a bit overgrown especially through the log roll overs. Spat me out right into a giant pile of logs in the area closed for forestry works. Guys loading up a log transporter so had to yomp through the dead fall and do the long road ride back to the car park. Still a great ride though, but next time I think I'll stick to the Goauch trails.
