Anyone done this one? I have done most of the routes on the E side of the road but never crossed it to do this one. Is there any reason why it's never mentioned in any guides? I was mainly interested as a cutoff when heading for the climbs W of Arkengarthdale.
Weird. I almost used it to get back to the car today but didn't bother because my legs were shot and I couldn't face it if it was just a boggy slog. Maybe worth a look after a dry spell or I'll walk the dog and have a peek.
Well, I was quite close today so I thought I might as well give it a go. Big mistake. Turned into a death march across boggy tussocks with no visible path. To add insult to injury the gates, which had blue b/W signs were that special sort that you can only open by lifting them off their hinges. I had planned a much longer ride but was so knackered after what was a relatively short bog trot, that I cut it short and only did a few more miles.
Won't be bothering with that then. It's a shame as it could have been built into a few different loops.
Since we're talking about the area, does anyone know if there's a bit of cheek running down turf moor hush (south of langthwaite). I saw a couple of ebikes come from that area but couldn't catch them on that climb.
