So I'm considering replacing my current K24 and am looking at the Elixir R so how does it compare for power, reliability and pad life? Also are they quiet? as my K24 is silent in conditions

I'd go for Formula RX ahead of the Avid's personally

Had a pair of Avid Elixir Rs that died about 800 miles in (rear caliper not holding pressure & needing to be bled often - twice in one week was the final straw). LBS reports this is common. Swapped for the Hopes I wanted in the first place which have been excellent, but I've heard good things about Formula brakes too.

Got a set of R1s. Excellent, best brakes I've had. Pad change both ends, total around 10mins.
Took around 3hrs to chnge the pads on the front only of GF's Juicy 3s.
I would go for the Formula over the Avid.

Not quite sure. The spring went a funny shape, and then the pads were too close together to get the rotor in and wouldn't be prised apart so we had to start messing about with fluid levels.
Can do Formula R1s and Hope C2s with no problems at all so it's not just me being a numpty. Probably.
