As it's still a relatively small world I wondered how many STW'ers ride them. And would our paths cross?

3rd May Severn Across 400km
14th July The Buzzard 600km

I'm riding the 'round the year' but I'm awaiting the cross calender so I can fit it all in. And mine will mostly be in Beds, Buck, Herts and Essex.

I did the Severn across last year, but this year opted for the Buckingham Blinder 400 instead as the Severn was too close to the Bryan Chapman.

I'm the bearded indian guy on a carbon bike with a carradice saddlebag (usually rocking a Gregarios jersey), if we do end up doing the same events...

Not gone further than 150k this year in February all plans since then gone on hold while my wife's hand operation and job/course sort themselves out. I will do a 200k ride this year though!

Yep, I live in Hornsey, but ride with the Gregarios from Hatch End.

Teerosugars they're good rides. I'm enjoying them so much that I've not even started to train for racing this year.
There are so many challenges apart from the listed 'calender' events.

I've found doing a 'good audax' very satisfying. Low key, but with a strong feeling of belonging. You feel like you've had a good day when the navigation goes well, when you've ate well and your legs just want to keep on turning. And you get back with no mechanicals. No waymarkers and no one to pick you up if the wheels fall off.

Took a mate on his first audax earlier in the year, 150k on a flat route across the Cheshire plains.

He'd done a few sportives and charity rides, but couldn't get his head around the idea of getting tea and toast in a village hall before riding off following a coded route sheet to find a decent CTC endorsed cafe in the middle of nowhere, and then riding back to as much tea, sandwiches and soup as you could manage chatting to a strange mix of folk on a strange mix of bikes.

He seems to have got the audax bug now.

Although a few of the really serious long distance audaxers I've met have been a bit intense. The rest are just like you and me. But skinnier.
